Professor Jone Pearce has been appointed to the Experts Panel for the European Union’s Advanced Investigator Grants Programme. The program reviews grant proposals in European research and provides up to 3.5 million Euros in funding.

Paul Leon works with Health Care Agency on Homeless Issues
HCEMBA student Paul M. Leon recently became Orange County Health Care Agency's first ever public health nurse dedicated exclusively to the homeless population. Leon is also co-founder and President of the non-profit group Illumination Foundation.

Challenge for Charity
Students at the Paul Merage School of Business have been raising money, donating time, and volunteering as part of the school’s Challenge for Charity. Challenge for Charity is a non-profit group that allows MBA students to give back to the community.

Gibson Receives 2008 Pedagogical Innovation Award
Professor Cristina Gibson will receive the 2008 Pedagogical Innovation Award from the UC Irvine Academic Senate Council on Student Experience at the 16th Annual Celebration of Teaching. The event will be held at the University Club on May 22.

Business Plan Competition -- Semi-Finalists Announced
The 2008 Stradling Yocca Carlson & Rauth Business Plan Competition judges reviewed 50+ concept papers and plan development is now actively underway for the semi-finalists. The competition ends May 16, 2008, with $30,000 in cash prizes.
