The checklist below will help ensure that you have everything you need before you begin our convenient online applications process.Once you’re ready to apply online, you will find it easy for you to start your application, save your work, and return to it at a later time to complete it. When you click on the Apply Online! link, you will be asked to create an account with a username and password. You can then begin completing the application. For technical issues with your online application, refer to the Embark Support Center.
- Online Application Form
When you apply online, you need to fill out the online application form including personal and academic data, etc.
- Official Transcripts
Please send official copies of transcripts for each college and university attended. Candidates may apply to the program if they hold the equivalent of a four-year U.S. Bachelor's degree. International applicants should refer to the International Applicant page for specific requirements.
- Official GMAT Score
All applicants are required to take the GMAT exam. There is no minimum GMAT score, however, the average GMAT score for the fall 2007 entering class is 670, and 80% of the class scored between 600 and 740. GMAT scores are valid for up to five years from your test date. Be sure to have your exam results sent to The Paul Merage School of Business, Full-time MBA Program, institution code: 0DP-7R-16. - Official TOEFL Score (international applicants only)
The minimum score required for admission is 600 for the paper-based test, 250 for the computer-based test, or 100 for the Internet-based test. TOEFL scores are valid for up to two years from your test date. Applicants may receive a waiver of the TOEFL if all of the requirements for the high school diploma, bachelor’s degree or an advanced degree in a country where the primary and dominant language is English and English was the language of instruction of the school where the requirements were completed. - Two letters of recommendation
Letters can be submitted online, or if your recommenders prefer, recommendation forms can be submitted on paper. Letters of recommendations from direct supervisors are preferred. They may also be obtained from people who know you professionally, such as clients, former bosses, or others who know your professional abilities. Recommendations from professors are not helpful unless you have done extensive work or research with them, or you have been out of school for less than two years.
- Essays
The application requests three essays and one optional essay. Please answer the questions within the space limits indicated.
- Employment History – Resume
While work experience is not a requirement for admission, the vast majority of MBA students have an average of five years of full-time work experience. Submit a copy of your resume and for each position held, include the name and website of the organization, job title, a detailed description of your responsibilities, and reason for leaving.
- $150 Application Fee

- Interview
Interviews are by invitation only and are required for admission. If invited to an interview, you will be informed by the Recruitment and Admissions office via email. Whenever possible, applicants are encouraged to conduct interviews on campus. However, for those applicants unable to travel to Irvine, telephone interviews are acceptable. The interview is both evaluative and informative. It is not only an opportunity for us to learn more about you, but also for you to learn more about the MBA Program at The Paul Merage School of Business. Interviews are conducted by the Recruitment and Admissions Staff.
