
When it comes to well-known theme parks, the O.C. has it all. A destination for tourists worldwide,
Disneyland in Anaheim, California is just minutes away from the Merage School. Knott’s Berry Farm, a Western-themed amusement park with its famous “Log Ride” is also nearby. About an hour’s drive north of the campus, the city of Los Angeles is home to
Universal Studios and Magic Mountain theme parks. And to the south in San Diego, you can be inspired by the animals at the
San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park and awed by the breathtaking marine life at
Seaworld.
There are so many beautiful beaches just a few miles from the Merage School. Huntington Beach is the destination for
sun-bathing and
surfing and it has been nicknamed
“Surf City, USA.” Laguna Beach has stretches of sand and sea that rival those of any island paradise, and it is well known for its community of local artists. And to the north, near Los Angeles, you can hit the boardwalk of
Venice Beach or maybe even
Malibu or Zuma beaches.
The O.C. is the official home of the 2007 Stanley Cup Winners, the
Anaheim Ducks. Their home-base arena, the Anaheim Pond, is a beautiful sports complex as well as a major concert venue. For exciting major league baseball, you can easily get to Angel Stadium and watch the 2002 World Series winners, the
Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Los Angeles sports teams include the
Los Angeles Lakers, the Los Angeles Kings and the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Orange County is a major shopping hub with large and beautiful malls, the most famous of which is
South Coast Plaza. The
Irvine Spectrum is a shopping and entertainment complex featuring free summer concerts by up and coming bands and an open-air ice-skating rink in the winter. From
Fashion Island in Newport Beach, you can partake of
stunning ocean views as you shop in fine stores and dine in fabulous restaurants.
The Block at Orange, which is a contemporary shopping and entertainment center, is youthful and vibrant and is known for its
trendy appeal.
About an hour and half away from the Merage School, you will find some of the most challenging skiing and beautiful resorts.
Snow Summit and
Mountain High ski resorts offer beginners and experts diverse trails and terrain. For a real getaway,
Mammoth Mountain is a skier’s paradise. It boasts 3,500 skiable acres, 150 named trails, 29 lifts and
300 days of sunshine per year.
Perhaps one of the most famous desert destinations is
Palm Springs, California. A mere two hours from campus, this resort community has it all – shopping, dining, golf and of course, quality pool-time. For a more rugged desert experience, the
Joshua Tree National Park offers scenic hiking trails and campgrounds.
