Ashish Gupta MBA Class of 2009 ash.gupta@uci.edu
Ashish Gupta is a first-year full time MBA candidate at the Paul Merage School of Business focusing on Entrepreneurship and Technology. Born and raised in India, he holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Pune, India.
He founded a technology startup during his undergraduate years that developed leading-edge handheld and wireless technology solutions, later going on to work on the Mobile Computing Team at Tata Consultancy Services, Asia’s largest software company. While at Tata, Ashish was a solution architect designing complex handheld and wireless computing solutions for Fortune 500 clients. His work brought him to the Bay Area in May 2005, where he worked as Project Lead for Motorola, Inc., leading teams in the US, UK, Poland and India. He is also founder and president of The Indian Palm User Group.This summer, Ashish is interning at a mobile and wireless technology startup in the Bay Area as a Product Marketing Manager.
In October 2006, Ashish decided to apply to business school to transition from a technology role to a strategy and management role. His search led him to the Paul Merage School of Business at UC Irvine, and he hasn’t looked back since. He is a Faculty Fellow, Section Representative and Student Ambassador at Merage. Ashish came to Merage for its collaborative environment, strong focus on innovation, and small class size, which allows him to learn from the incredibly talented domestic and international students who represent a wide variety of backgrounds, experiences and perspectives.
Outside of school, Ashish enjoys soccer, tennis and adventure sports. He’s also an avid race enthusiast, and enjoys fast cars and sport bikes. Some day he hopes to go sky diving.
